    Be careful. A few months ago, I took advantage of a 5% savings account interest rate from Citibank because it was the best rate available… and Citibank has screwed up nearly every aspect of my banking since then. Seriously. I spend, on average, on hour per month on the phone with them trying to get them to fix big problems – them spelling my name wrong on my card, them sending my mail to the wrong address, etc. They’re HORRIBLE.

    In short, make sure that the bank with the best interest rate is also a competent institution before you give them your money :(

    Try the smaller banks that advertise over Internet. Make sure your funds are covered by FDIC insurance and verify 10-times to make sure it’s not a fraudulent web site or service.

    There used to be Netbank but it went bancrupt and was bought by ING Direct.
